บทคัดย่อ

งานชิ้นนี้ศึกษาเรื่องการจาริกแสวงบุญและการเคลื่อนไหวทางการเมืองของชาวทิเบตในธรรมศาลาโดยมีคำถามที่ว่าการปฏิบัติศาสนกิจของผู้จาริกแสวงบุญมีความเกี่ยวเนื่องกันหรือไม่ต่อการเคลื่อนไหวทางการเมืองของชาวทิเบตในเมืองธรรมศาลา ผู้วิจัยใช้เวลาระยะเวลา 6 เดือน ในสังเกตการณ์ภาคสนามและสัมภาษณ์กับชาวทิเบตที่ไปจาริกแสวงบุญในเมืองธรรมศาลา ข้อค้นพบคือ การจาริกแสวงบุญของชาวทิเบตในเมืองธรรมศาลาไม่เพียงแต่เป็นกิจกรรมเกี่ยวเนื่องกันกับการเมือง หากแต่การจาริกแสวงบุญมีส่วนสำคัญต่อกระบวนการเรียกร้องอิสรภาพทิเบตด้วย

Abstract 

This paper focuses on the pilgrimage and political movements of Tibetans in Dharamshala. The question is that, do religious practices of Tibetan pilgrims relate with political activities?  Ethnographic methodology was conducted in this researcher project. The author participated in various activities, both secular and religious, for six months in Dharamshala and interviewed many Tibetan informants from different tribes. It found that religious activities conducted in Dharmashala were strongly tied with politics. Those pilgrims as well as their activities were playing the significant role in fighting for independence of Tibet.
